Six Nifty Tips For The Home Handyman

  1. Stain wood more smoothly and uniformly by wrapping a rag around a standard household sponge before applying stain.

  2. If you’re painting baseboards in an area that’s carpeted, slip an old Venetian blind slat between the baseboard and the carpet. Be sure to have the curved side of the blind up.

  3. To prevent left over caulk from drying out in the tube, use a wire connector. The threads on the connector will allow you to screw it on the tube securely.

  4. To keep your paint brushes like new, wash them with a shampoo and conditioner! The shampoo will clean the left over paint, and the conditioner will keep the bristles super soft!

  5. To keep the small spray tube on a can of WD-40 from getting lost, tape an empty Bic brand pen tube onto the side of the WD-40 can. Then slip in the spray tube and cap the pen.

  6. For ease of use, transfer your wood glue into an empty and clean mustard bottle. It dispenses easily and is designed to allow very little air to reach the glue, even if the top is left open.
